What We’ll Remember
Some campgrounds stand out because they have incredible amenities.
Others because they’re in a spectacular location.
Oregon Trail Campground isn’t trying to be a luxury resort.
What we’ll remember most is the people.
Before we even arrived, we had already changed our reservation once. Then, after checking in, our plans changed again and we needed to leave a day early. Finally, on checkout day, we were waiting on an important FedEx package that hadn’t arrived before the 11:00 a.m. checkout time. Every time we reached out, the owners responded with kindness and flexibility. There was never any frustration. Never any sense that we were inconveniencing them. Just genuine hospitality.
Those moments might seem small, but when you travel full-time, they’re the things you remember long after you’ve forgotten what the laundry room looked like.
By the time we left, it felt less like we’d stayed at a campground and more like we’d spent a week on someone’s family property.
First Impressions
Booking was simple, communication was excellent, and every interaction with the owners reinforced that this is a family-run campground.
There’s a noticeable difference between staying somewhere operated by a family and staying somewhere run by a large company.
Everything felt a little more personal.
The owners live on the property with their children, and that family atmosphere carries throughout the campground without ever feeling intrusive.
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome.
Our Site
Our full-hookup site had reliable utilities throughout the week.
- Strong water pressure
- Reliable 50-amp service
- Plenty of room for our outdoor mats and portable dog fence
- Gravel surface throughout
The sites aren’t oversized, but we never felt cramped either.
Our particular site didn’t include dedicated parking, so we parked in a nearby overflow area close to the propane refill station, which worked perfectly well.
One thing to know before booking…
Shade is limited.
Our site had almost none, and during early July the afternoon sun was intense. Some areas of the campground appeared to have a little more shade than ours, but overall this is a fairly open campground.
Amenities:
Oregon Trail focuses on providing the essentials—and doing them well.
During our stay we found:
- Two private bathrooms, each with its own shower
- A large, clean laundry facility
- A spacious community room with books, games, and pool table/ ping pong area
- A playground
- A grassy common area
- A propane refill station
- Package acceptance at no extra charge
The bathrooms weren’t luxurious, but they were clean enough and private, which was nice.*
The laundry room was large and had plenty of machines for use but did have a strong laundry fragrance smell so if that bothers you, you’d want to avoid. *
- Note: We don’t personally need to use the bathoom or laundry facilities as we have those options in our RV but I wanted to give a general overview that everything seemed nice and operational on that front.
The Atmosphere
This campground is quiet.
Even with a mix of long-term residents and travelers passing through, the park never felt crowded or noisy.
Most people kept to themselves, although everyone we encountered was friendly.
The campground has a generally older crowd, so families with children may not find lots of other kids running around to play with.
That said, the owners’ children were often outside, and our kids really enjoyed spending time with them.
The entire property is fenced, which added an extra sense of privacy and security.
We never worried about leaving bikes, chairs, or outdoor gear outside while we were away exploring.
Working Remotely
Since my husband works remotely full-time, reliable internet is something we pay close attention to.
Oregon Trail performed exactly how we’d hope.

- Starlink worked without obstruction
- No issues with video calls or remote work
If you’re working while traveling, we’d feel confident staying here again.
Traveling with Dogs
Willie traveled with us throughout our stay.
The campground includes a grassy dog area, but it isn’t fenced, which meant we couldn’t comfortably let him run off leash.
For us, that was probably the biggest thing we’d change.
Because most of the campground is gravel, it also isn’t the easiest place for dogs that enjoy lots of grassy space around their campsite.
It certainly isn’t a bad campground for dogs—but there are more dog-friendly parks out there.
What We Loved:
- The owners’ kindness and flexibility
- Family-run atmosphere
- Quiet evenings
- Excellent value ($315 for the week during our stay)
- Reliable utilities
- Great location for exploring Twin Falls
- Strong cell service and Starlink access
- Clean laundry facilities
- Easy package delivery
What We’d Change:
Very little.. but.. If we could wave a magic wand, we’d add:
- More shade throughout the campground
- A fenced dog park
- A little more grass around the campsites
None of those things would keep us from staying here again.
They’re simply what would make an already good campground even better

If another RV family pulled into the site next to us and asked,
“Would you stay here again?”
Our answer would be easy.
Yes.
Not because Oregon Trail has the fanciest amenities or the biggest sites.
Because it delivered exactly what we needed.
It was clean.
It was quiet.
It felt safe.
It was close to everything we wanted to explore.
The internet worked when we needed it.
And perhaps most importantly, the owners treated us with genuine kindness every step of the way.
Those things matter to us far more than flashy amenities.
For our style of travel, we’d happily pull back into Oregon Trail Campground the next time we visit Twin Falls.
