Why We Chose RW Services RV Park
When we were looking for a campground near Olympic National Park, we weren’t searching for a resort packed with activities. We wanted somewhere quiet that would put us close to the park while giving us a peaceful place to come home to after a full day of hiking.
RW Services RV Park ended up being exactly that.
This small, family-owned campground sits just outside of Forks and feels more like staying on someone’s property than at a commercial RV park. It isn’t flashy, but that’s exactly what we appreciated about it.
After spending our days exploring beaches, rainforests, and scenic overlooks, it was the perfect place to slow down, cook dinner, and let the kids run around before calling it a night.
Our Campsite
We stayed in a level gravel pull-through site with full hookups, and everything worked exactly as it should.
Water pressure was strong, the electric was reliable, and we never experienced any issues during our stay.
Our site sat beside a large metal building, but directly in front of us was a beautiful open grassy field. That quickly became the kids’ favorite part of the campground.
Every evening they would head outside with Willie to throw a ball, run through the grass, and burn off whatever energy they still had left after hiking all day.
Sometimes it’s the simplest things that end up making a campground memorable.
Our site also included a picnic table, which made it easy to enjoy meals outside whenever the weather cooperated.
The Atmosphere
If I had to describe RW Services RV Park in one word, it would be peaceful.
During our stay we were almost the only campers there.
There wasn’t traffic driving past our campsite.
There wasn’t highway noise in the distance.
There weren’t crowds gathering around a clubhouse.
Instead, we enjoyed quiet evenings, open space, and the sounds of nature.
It was also suprisingly warm for early May and sunny the entire week! Definitely not the moody, rainy, Pacific Northwest vibe I thought we were going to get!
We always felt completely safe walking around the property, even after dark, and the lack of light pollution made for beautiful starry skies at night.
If your idea of camping is slowing down and enjoying where you are, I think you’ll appreciate this campground.
Family & Pet Friendliness
Although this campground doesn’t have playgrounds, pools, or organized activities, our kids never once complained.
The large grassy field became their playground.
They spent hours running, playing games, and riding their bikes around the campground. The gravel roads made biking a little bumpier than pavement, but they still had plenty of fun.
Willie loved it here too.
Since there were so few campers during our visit, walks around the property were quiet and relaxing.
If your family enjoys nature more than campground entertainment, this is a wonderful place to stay.
Amenities
RW Services RV Park focuses on doing the basics well.
Our hookups worked perfectly throughout the week, and although we never needed to use the campground bathrooms, they were available for guests.
The thing that stood out most, however, wasn’t an amenity.
It was the hospitality.
During our stay we had several packages delivered while traveling. The owner kindly allowed us to have them shipped directly to her home and personally brought them over to our campsite.
That simple act of kindness said everything we needed to know about the people who run this campground.
It’s the kind of personal hospitality that’s becoming harder to find.
Cell Service & Connectivity
We had no issues using Starlink during our stay, making it easy for Eli to work remotely throughout the week.
Cell service was also reliable enough that we never had any concerns staying connected.
Location
For exploring the western side of Olympic National Park, I don’t think you could ask for a much better location.
Approximate drive times from the campground:
- Rialto Beach: 40 minutes
- Hoh Rain Forest: 40 minutes
- Cape Flattery: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Downtown Forks: Less than 10 minutes
It felt close enough to everything we wanted to explore while still giving us the quiet atmosphere we were looking for.
Final Thoughts
We would absolutely stay at RW Services RV Park again.
In fact, I think this campground perfectly reflects why we enjoyed the Forks area so much.
It’s quiet without feeling isolated.
Simple without feeling lacking.
Family-owned without feeling commercial.
After spending the day exploring some of Washington’s most beautiful scenery, coming back to a peaceful campsite where the kids could play in the field, Willie could stretch his legs, and we could enjoy a quiet evening together was exactly what we needed.
Sometimes the best campground isn’t the one with the most amenities.
It’s the one that feels like home while you’re there.
